Ghostbus TOURS! (I really hope they did that on purpose). Per the usual, I’m late blogging. But seriously, Do Dublin for the win again. Every time I’ve visited Dublin, I have always wanted to do their Ghost Tour. It runs all year but around Halloween, they seem to have way more times.
So, Rob and I boarded the Ghostbus! We walked through a curtain and were instantly spooked but some dude in the dark, good start! Made our ways up the stairs where the top deck was set up to look like an old fortune telling parlor. Curtains drawn, great ambiance.
The bus drove around Dublin while telling us about different buildings and their hauntings. There is a hotel here that apparently has a room you can stay in that a ghost kid bugs you, I’m totally down to stay!
Then there was a story about a doctor who murdered his male medical students to use their bodies in anatomy lab…gross.
Our first off the bus stop was at a cemetery that has since been turned into a park. Straight out of Poltergeist (You left the bodies and you only moved the headstones!!) The park was very serene but definitely creepy, headstones literally just pushed aside!
On the grounds of St. Kevin’s park, there was a building that was in ruins. This is where Bishop Dermot O’Hurley was buried after he was tortured for refusing to acknowledge the Church of England.
Our next stop was St Audeon’s Church, which was built in the 1100s. Apparently there’s an old tunnel system that connected the church to the other catacombs? Not sure, couldn’t find anything about it in my google search.
A little back story, there’s a pub in Dublin called Darkey Kelly’s. I couldn’t get over the racist undertones of the name. But apparently Darkey is short for Dorcas? Anyway…She was a madam at a brothel and the pub is where here brothel used to be. The story is that she was partially hung and then burned alive because she was a witch. She can now be seen wandering around the grounds of St Audeon’s wearing green and looking for her baby.
I guess the true story is that she was a serial killer and they found, like, 5 bodies in her brothel? Regardless, the food and music at her pub is bomb!
I took all these pictures hoping I’d catch an “orb” or some sign that there was a ghost in my shot but I was disappointed. This was such a fun thing to do in Dublin, it was nice doing something and going places that even Rob has never been or heard of.
